About Woodstock, GA
Located just 30 miles north of Atlanta, Woodstock’s city limits include more than 12 square miles and over 30,000 residents. The city is a Georgia PlanFirst Community and a recipient of the Georgia Municipal Association’s Live, Work, Play City Award. Known for its vibrant downtown and world-class parks and trails, Woodstock is home to hundreds of thriving small businesses, regional shopping, and tourism destinations.
My husband, Chris, and I relocated to North Fulton back in 1996 with the intention of starting a family. Over the years, we’ve become deeply acquainted with the surrounding areas, including neighboring Woodstock in Cherokee County. The chance to contribute to and be a part of the community is something we consider a true blessing, and we couldn’t imagine raising our family or owning a business anywhere else.
The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Woodstock as a town in 1897. The community derives its name from Woodstock, an 1826 novel by Walter Scott.
Woodstock offers a diverse array of attractions and activities that cater to various interests. History enthusiasts can explore the charming downtown area, which is steeped in rich heritage and adorned with vintage architecture. The Elm Street Cultural Arts Village hosts vibrant performances, art exhibitions, and cultural events, providing an artistic haven for residents and visitors alike.
For nature lovers, the trails of Olde Rope Mill Park and Blankets Creek Trail System offer opportunities for hiking, biking, and enjoying picturesque landscapes. Being dog owners ourselves, we’ve explored the local offerings for our furry companions, such as the Woofstock Dog Park. This park boasts two convenient trailheads, with one of them connecting to downtown Woodstock. It’s a wonderful amenity that allows us to enjoy outdoor adventures with our beloved pets.
